By the surface of a sphere, we mean the area of the area that bounds the sphere. Another name for the surface of a sphere is "sphere". The surface of a sphere that has radius r, usually denoted by S, is calculated as
$$\Large S = 4\cdot \pi\cdot r^2$$
For example, a sphere with radius r = 4 and surface is therefore equal to
$$S = 4\cdot \pi \cdot 4^2 = 4\cdot \pi \cdot 16 = 64\pi\approx200{,}96$$
